Tournament Testimonials

Hi Lynn, I hope this email finds you well! I apologize for its long overdue! I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to have been the recipient of the Sommer Foundation Scholarship and its financial support throughout the last two years. Such generosity has enabled me to fulfill my dreams and goals within my college career and I am forever grateful towards the Sommer Foundation and the Board.

I am now a junior at the University of Illinois at Chicago majoring in Accounting and Finance. I plan to graduate in Spring 2023 and sit for the CPA Exam. This summer, I also have the opportunity to intern at Workiva-- a software company and cloud based system that enables automation of reporting from finance to accounting and even risk management! I am excited to delve deeper into my business profession!

Again, thank you so much for everything. The generosity of the Sommer Foundation has inspired me to help others in need and give back as much as I can. I hope that one day I can also help those to achieve their goals and dreams just as you have helped me!

I hope that we can stay in touch and if there is anything I can help out with, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Best,
Renee Valdepenas

Good morning, I am Linda Bedoe, mother of Robert Bedoe, 2002 recipient for the Sommer Foundation award. I happened to come across something that reminded me, once again, to say thank you. As a widow, you knew how hard it would be to make the dream of my son going to a good college come true. You helped make it a reality.

Rob is doing fine and pursuing many life adventures. You can check one of those adventures out in today’s Wall Street Journal. He and a boyhood friend went on the trip of a lifetime.

I see you are still doing wonderful work. I know we all say thank you and a few might be looking down from above smiling to see the successes you have helped make possible.

Dear Lynn Sommer and board members,

I wanted to thank you for a wonderful evening on 7/14 at your golf outing. My daughters and I were honored to be included in the festivities. We had a really nice time as a family, enjoyed a delicious meal and thoroughly enjoyed that night.

I am so very grateful to your foundation for choosing my daughter, Andrea Lukas, as one of your scholarship recipients. Your additional funding enabled me to say 'yes' to her attending U/W Madison, which is her dream school and her late Dad's alma mater. When I drive away from U/W Madison at the end of August, in my heart I will know your foundation helped make it possible.

I was very impressed with your foundation and how it helps these students who have endured the loss of a parent. We have all witnessed how hard this can be on our children. If you find yourselves in need of additional volunteers, or if there is some way I can help, please feel free to contact me. I love to support causes I deeply believe in and have been touched by. You are doing wonderful things!

Sincerely,
Kris Lukas
